Anusara-inspired / Heart Hatha Yoga integrates a heart-oriented spiritual philosophy, biomechanical alignment of the body and balanced energetic action. This practice encourages us to be aware of all parts of ourselves - the light and the dark - and to be present with all that arises. We awaken to our true nature, which is consciousness and bliss, and serve life by bringing more understanding, beauty and love into the world. We align with Grace and stand in her current in order to know the innate goodness that lies within each of us.

Nosara Yoga evolved from Kripalu Yoga when Don Stapleton, originator of the Kripalu Yoga program moved to Nosara, Costa Rica to found the Yoga Institute with his wife Amba. Classic poses are taught with emphasis on the teachings of Patanjali, anatomical alignment, humor and respect for all eight limbs of Yoga. Classes include vinyasa flow, breath practice, the details and refinement of specific poses and hands-on assists--all set to world music. Sansea's classes are gentle, slow--this gives you a chance to breathe fully and stretch deeply, as you build strength, stamina and poise. Long warming sequences set the foundations in breath and alignment; we move in a measured pace, each person modifying the practice individually according to flexibility and age. Instruction in pranayama (breathing techniques) teaches mindfulness while it increases vitality. Wear loose, layered clothing without zippers or buttons; we practice barefoot. This class is for those who like to take their time, those who might be recovering from an injury or are beginners. First we sit in a short meditation, then flow and finish in a quiet relaxation pose.
Pre-Natal Yoga benefits your body as you change and grow, and creates a sacred space in which to honor and enjoy the new life within you. Pregnancy is a really potent time to connect with our bodies. The connection we make during this time will guide us through labor and birth and beyond. Asana and pranayama (posture and breath) gently work the pelvic muscles and reproductive organs, contributing to a smooth pregnancy and natural childbirth. Through regular yoga practice your developing baby will receive an optimum supply of blood and nutrients as well as a deep connection to you! All levels and trimesters welcome.
Shambhava Yoga is a expression of ancient practices which transforms awareness by harmonizing the body, breath and mind, to have fun and bring us back in touch with our source of joy, energy and health. Open to all levels, Shambhava Yoga opens the heart and uplifts the spirit.
Vinyasa Yoga blends an eclectic array of yoga styles and practices. Wisdom and experience combine to create a class that incorporates a balanced flow of postures with an emphasis on connecting conscious breath with conscious movement.
Yin Yoga increases joint flexibility in stiff hips, tight lower back and tension in the spine. In Yin Yoga we support and cushion the large joints of the body with bolsters and pillows so that the muscles gradually relax as the joints become more mobile in each pose. Yin Yoga embodies compassion, non-striving and kindness towards one's body. We pay elegant attention to alignment as well as the individual differences in each person's anatomy. The pace is leisurely and the transitions gentle. Based on familiar, simple poses such as Seated Forward Bend and Cobra, Yin Yoga increases circulation of healing fluids to the areas of the lower back, deep inside hip joints and the pelvis.
Yoga for Cyclists Many cyclists experience tension and discomfort in the neck, upper and lower back, tight hamstrings, quadriceps and hips due to the cycling posture. Practicing specific yoga poses will help relieve stress, increase flexibility to chronically tight muscles, build strength and endurance, balance the body and reduce the risk of injury. By incorporating breathing, cycling-specific yoga poses and relaxation techniques, we’ll improve our performance on the road and beyond.
Yoga for Gardeners - or Anyone! Snow melts, the earth softens; we may be tempted to rush out and tackle all the garden tasks that have awaited us during the long cold months. Just as the ground needs to warm up, so do we. Yoga helps us prepare our bodies to dig, rake, shovel, haul, squat and bend--and to mend sore muscles if we have been tempted to over-do. Breathing techniques, stretches and holding poses prepare our bodies for the busy and invigorating gardening season ahead. Mindfulness training centers us. Yoga for Gardeners prepares us, grounds us and rests us.
Wudang Primordial Qigong is a gentle and simple Chinese Qi exercise that helps guide Qi through the body, moving us into the original Qi frequency. The practice rejuvenates the body from the inside out, calms the mind and boosts the immune system. It is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. By learning to internalize physical movement, Primordial Qigong is a wonderful compliment to a Tai chi practice. Part 1 (12 movements) of the exercise is to gather and replenish qi, strengthen the organs and body, moving us into the post-heaven frequency. In Part 2 (13 movements) the qi is guided through the body to open energy blockages and smooth the channels, moving us into the pre-heaven, original qi, frequency. The internal and external movements will be taught in detail at the first (2/6/10) and second (3/6/10) workshop. The third workshop (4/3/10) will be for review, refinement and questions.
