Anusara-inspired integrates a heart-oriented spiritual philosophy, biomechanical alignment of the body and balanced energetic action. This practice encourages us to be aware of all parts of ourselves - the light and the dark - and to be present with all that arises. We awaken to our true nature, which is consciousness and bliss, and serve life by bringing more understanding, beauty and love into the world. We align with Grace and stand in her current in order to know the innate goodness that lies within each of us.

For the Sake of God Each week class is based on one of the 99 names of God as spoken in Arabic! The 99 names, or the Most Beautiful Names as they are called, are qualities and attributes of the divine. Using them as foundations for practice gives a framework for meditation which underlies asana and pranayama and becomes part of the Samkalpa or intention for that practice, that day, that week, that strand in the weaving of life.

Matters of the Heart Do you have a Low-Risk Cardiac Diagnosis? This class may serve your needs. We will learn breathing techniques that help regulate irregular heartbeat, blood pressure and pulse. We will practice Meditation to calm and steady the mind and body. We will practice Yin Yoga, a series of leisurely postures all done on the floor with cushioning from bolsters, blankets and blocks. Open to beginners and practicing yogis. We will provide opportunities to share concerns about the emotional impact of receiving a diagnosis of heart disease; how to assess cautions, recommendations, advice, dire stories, a sense that the heart must adopt a lesser notion of oneself. We can all be healthy, vibrant, energetic and loving with a low-risk diagnosis, provided that we make our way into our daily lives in a wise, well-advised manner, living with open and generous hearts. The instructor, Sansea Sparling, has herself received a diagnosis of heart disease, and is discovering a path of calm wisdom, high quality anatomical information, beneficial activity and an open-hearted attitude.
Nosara Yoga evolved from Kripalu Yoga when Don Stapleton, originator of the Kripalu Yoga program moved to Nosara, Costa Rica to found the Yoga Institute with his wife Amba. Classic poses are taught with emphasis on the teachings of Patanjali, anatomical alignment, humor and respect for all eight limbs of Yoga. Classes include vinyasa flow, breath practice, the details and refinement of specific poses and hands-on assists--all set to world music. Sansea's classes are gentle, slow--this gives you a chance to breathe fully and stretch deeply, as you build strength, stamina and poise. Long warming sequences set the foundations in breath and alignment; we move in a measured pace, each person modifying the practice individually according to flexibility and age. Instruction in pranayama (breathing techniques) teaches mindfulness while it increases vitality. Wear loose, layered clothing without zippers or buttons; we practice barefoot. This class is for those who like to take their time, those who might be recovering from an injury or are beginners. First we sit in a short meditation, then flow and finish in a quiet relaxation pose.
Radiant Yoga Come and experience your true nature through breath, asana, mudra, mantra, meditation and relaxation. Each class is designed to meet you at your own level, so all are welcome. The classes will be fun and lively as you challenge yourself to peel away the layers to reveal your radiance, to experience the beauty of your soul by tapping into your intuition. Remember, everything you need to know is already there. Come and open your heart and embrace your joyous spirit.
Vinyasa Yoga blends an eclectic array of yoga styles and practices. Wisdom and experience combine to create a class that incorporates a balanced flow of postures with an emphasis on connecting conscious breath with conscious movement.
Yin Yoga increases joint flexibility in stiff hips, tight lower back and tension in the spine. In Yin Yoga we support and cushion the large joints of the body with bolsters and pillows so that the muscles gradually relax as the joints become more mobile in each pose. Yin Yoga embodies compassion, non-striving and kindness towards one's body. We pay elegant attention to alignment as well as the individual differences in each person's anatomy. The pace is leisurely and the transitions gentle. Based on familiar, simple poses such as Seated Forward Bend and Cobra, Yin Yoga increases circulation of healing fluids to the areas of the lower back, deep inside hip joints and the pelvis.
Private Yoga Sessions. Meet one-on-one to address specific questions and individual needs. Deepen your understanding of yoga and embody the teachings as they relate to you. |
